I’m moving my blog to my tumblr blog, as it is more efficient and I make more posts on it. I also love the current design and wordpress is getting a bit heavy to carry on with. I will still be making the hefty big posts, but on that blog blended in with my inspiration, favourite quotes, and project pieces. I also feel my tumblr blog will gather more attention as it is regularly updated and there is a social network behind it. It is also linked to my Facebook and Twitter so my followers and friends will also recieve updates and this generates more activity the my blog.

Tuesday 19th October 2010, 6 days until my 20th Birthday.
08.00 – Alarm 1 went off. Must have somehow got out of bed walked to my desk, found where the noise was coming from, turned it off and got back into sleep. I think I was 90% asleep at this time as I have no recollection of it happening. To be fair, this happens to me most mornings.
08.20 – I woke up. I looked at my clock resting on one of my cushions, because it makes too much noise when on the wall (echoes throughout the room). Sarah Cox was on the radio talking to Dave and Aled about something I can’t remember, Chris Moyles would be on but for some reason he’s not on this week. Anyway, Sarah called Fearne Cotton at one point, not sure why, and also I think Greg James was on, but that could have been yesterday’s show!
08.35 – I got out of bed. I had planned to get out of bed at half past, but once a minute had passed on my digital alarm clock, I had to round it up to 35 minutes past, because 31 minutes past is not a suitable time to be getting out of bed, and I didn’t really want to get up at the time.
08.52 – I met Emma in the kitchen while I was making fried eggs and defrosting a roll. She had woke up at four or five because her boyfriend had to leave for work, and she had an interview at 11, so there was obviously no point sleeping those extra 4/5 hours before her interview!
09.10 – Finished breakfast, and left for uni.
09.25 – Got to uni and went straight to Floor 3, our class, and signed myself in. I had already done all the work, and deadline was from 10-12, I just waited until Mike, our tutor, told us what he wanted to say. I listened to people that were talking talk about various designer/university/life related topics.
10.00 – Deadline opened, and people started to leave their work on the desk. Amazingly, I stayed up in the room for another 45 mins before eventually going down to the Macs.
10.45 – Arrived at the DM rooms (rooms with the Macs) with Billie (♀) and Tony. Met half my class in there and helped Billy (♂) and Dan with problems. Then Billie (♀) used my presentation for a base, and me and Dan went back to the class to hand his work in.
11.15 – Arrived in the class again. This time myself, Dan, Monique and Lauren sat and talked after handing work in. Lauren had Milkybar Minstrel chocolates so we nibbled on them for a while. Again, we talked for a while until deadline was up and Mike took all the work in.
12.20 – Monique, Dan and I decided to go for lunch in the canteen, no seats so we sat in the bar. We talked about Jamal then headed home. Dan gave me a lift back to the house.
13.00 – Arrived home and went straight on my MacBook. Had an interview at 15.30 so sat it out waiting for time to pass.
14.45 – Finally after waiting ages, I had thought of something to do but saw the time and remembered I had an interview so got changed and left.
15.09 – looked at my phone for the time whilst walking up to Tesco Metro. About 10m away and realised I was a bit early so walked slowly, until I saw chavs watching me, so I moved a little quicker.
15.50 – left my interview, and unbuttoned shirt, because an hour ago it was raining, so I wore a jumper over my shirt, but it was sunny now, so was boiling, and seeing as I had just had an job interview for the first time, I wasn’t exactly the calmest person in the world. So unbuttoned shirt, tshirt underneath and walked home in the sun.
16.05 – Got back, got bored, so I had a nap. Laid on my bed and fell asleep almost instantly.
18.09 – Woke up, looked at the clock, was cold from sleeping in a tshirt and jeans, so put on a jumper and laid down again.
18.30 – Got up, unlocked door and went down to make dinner. Emma and boyfriend, Markus, were sitting at the table, him eating Pizza, and her waiting to go to Slimming. Oda came down soon after and I borrowed a sixth (approx.) of her onion. I made fajitas but had the tortillas in the freezer so I could keep them for longer (already opened) but they had broken with the amount of stuff I had in there, so they didn’t fold that great and fell apart when eating them. They were also quite spicy too, I was expecting something a little milder so had some Strawberry Nesquik with it. Needed something to watch whilst eating so put on Single Father starring David Tennant, a BBC drama Emma recommended to me earlier in the week. I watched the first episode while eating an exploding fajita.
19.40 – Went downstairs to wash up everything, met Richard when he was getting his dinner, then made myself a tea for the next episode of Single Father.
20.45 – Finished second episode of Single Father and found it was actually really good. Went back downstairs and wiped everything up.
21.00 – Decided to write this blog post.
21.10 – Remembered that I had forgotten to get my brother a birthday card for Thursday as I was seeing my mum tomorrow.
21.30 – Got distracted by Facebook and Twitter.
21.45 – Got distracted by http://www.fuelyourcreativity.com/
22.25 – Remembered I was writing this blog.
22.46 – Finished the blog post.

From Saturday to today, I have been working on some Photo-manipulations based on the four basic elements. Earth, Air, Fire and Water. Each follow similar trends; feature women, stripes in background, cloudy background, element circling them, etc. Here they are:

If you asked me a year ago to stand in front of 2 friends and 4 other people I’ve recently just met and dance along to Womanizer (Britney Spears), Hot and Cold (Katie Perry), and Wannabe (Spice Girls), I probably would have said “No way”.
But, maybe I have changed this past year, getting a little more confident in myself. Telling people what I probably wouldn’t have told anyone else. No longer feeling embarrassed about things. Mixing in with the crowd rather than following it. Stepping up to take lead instead of keeping my head down.
I feel living away from home has helped this. Living independently as an ordinary student. Taking the wrong paths as well as the right ones. Learning about life itself. Rather than being trapped in box, trying to be something I’m not; I’m expressing myself in new ways. Recreating myself. It may have started off hard, but you learn to accept what is, and deal with it.

Art Block

So, during the summer, I was kinda stuck for ideas for new pieces of art. I didn’t want to only do fan-art, so new ideas didn’t come very often. Thus, I decided to make a list of 100 topics that I can use as a base for a new idea. This list can be found on my new Art Blog, inspiredAnt.

The last two days, myself and my house-mate, Emma, have been messing around on Photoshop, learning some new stuff from tutorials etc. I showed her how to use the pen tool to create a glow of light around someone’s body and she experimented on some of her friends pictures. In the meanwhile, I’ve been making my own pieces using Light. Therefore crossing out two of the themes from the List: 020. Purple and 012. Dark. Art Style of Gaming

Some people wonder why I think the Wii is better than an Xbox 360 or a PS3. From my view, I see the Xbox and Playstation consoles very alike. Yes they have their differences, but compared to the Wii they are the same. Now people wonder, how can people like the Wii, the graphics are awful?! Maybe so, but if a game had the best graphics but the worst game-play would you get it? Or would you rather a DVD on a HD TV? The Wii has it’s own unique gaming that doesn’t follow onto other consoles. Even Xbox and Playstations unique games have exceedingly high graphics and you just wonder, is that it? When I look at the games in a shop, I turn to the back to look at the style of the art within the game.When you look at the styles of Warioland, Okami, a Boy an his Blob, and Pokemon, you see the different art styles they use to make their games incredible. This usually follows through with every game they make. Mario has always had to fight cuddly creatures with eyes. Animal crossing has always revolved around bobble-head animals wearing patterned clothes. Each game has it’s own style which owners love to see even if it’s just a background. Future games are even including their own styles. Legend of Zelda is using realistic fantasy however this time with a bit of cell shading to boost it’s looks. Kirby is getting a game which revolves around the textile industry with wool, string and fabric materials. Even the more realistic games like Metroid get a boost with futuristic designs. And there’s so much more. With the Wii, each game has it’s style, it’s art, which can brighten up the game so much, enough to amaze you. This is one of the reasons why I love Nintendo.

The Night I Eradicated the Beast…

Every now and then, I see something in the corner of my eye. This time just happened to be a huge spider. I say huge, it was about half the size of a tarantula, big enough for you? Anyway, because I’m not too fond of spiders, I rushed out of bed tripping over my laptop cable (magnetic on a macbook so the laptop doesn’t fall too), turned the big light on and grabbed the hardest thing, this time being a game case. I pulled up my blind, because it was on the window sill and it ran away. It started to climb the window (which is actually amazing, seeing as windows are slippery and flat, compared to walls being rough sometimes bumpy) so I tried to kill it. Banged the game against the window into the spider through the linen curtain thing. Somehow it survived and it ran up to the open window and stopped on the side. I thought this would be my chance to either fling it out or kill it on the side. Unfortunately I managed both, cutting off one of its legs on the side of the window and pushing the rest of it out the window. Just in case it was on the edge of the open window, I slammed it shut and opened it just ajar again. Now I have a leg on my window sill and hopefully a dead spider outside (died from fright, or falling, or crushed by window). Thinking it could have come back in (just now) I checked the ceiling and window sill for any 7 legged spiders.. or spiders in general. I’m probably not going to sleep tonight worrying if it will come back in (it would be better if I killed it now) but night!

Nothing to Report

I haven’t made a proper post in a while. One that doesn’t include some of my designs, products from a retailer, or an update about the blog. No, I guess there isn’t much to report to you. I’ve had an alright summer, not done much, but been here with my family and friends. Hopefully when I return to University, things can change, and I’ll have something to write about again!

Super Balls

I’ve been designing some characters in Illustrator. They are called Super Balls and each have their own special abilities and personalities. I’ve created all the bio’s for the basic balls and have got the advanced and gods to go, but will be submitting them in every now and then so keep a watch!
